  • Eye question

R has yellow goop coming out of the corners of his eyes. His left eye has been that way for a day or so and I just noticed his right eye at lunch. No other symptoms, they aren't red, don't seem to be swollen and he doesn't have a fever. He does have a runny nose but we all have runny noses since it was 100 degrees on Tuesday and 65 on Thursday!

Anything I should be concerned about??

    Thanks!

The yellow goop (discharge) screams bacterial to me. I'd take him in and get abx (probably drops). Leaving it untreated could lead to ear infections or it could clear on its own. Good luck!

Both my boys had something similar sounding that turned out to be bacterial infections.

Well I called our office's nurse line but he has no other symptoms so I'm supposed to just keep wiping them out and keep an eye on them. If his eye(s) get red then they can write me a scrip over the phone but at this point we just kind of have to wait it out. They said he's kind of young to get allergies in his eyes but I guess we'll see...

Of course its 3pm on Friday so if it turns red in an hour I'm screwed. GRRR

You could call back and say the "look" like they are getting red. This way you will have the script for the weekend...

Tempting, very tempting especially since I just wiped blood from his nose but I wasn't watching him like a hawk so he could have stuck something up it.

Hope R is better about the eye drops than mine were ... I had to sit on them, pin their arms down with my knees, force the eye open with one hand while administering the drops with the other hand!

That is pretty much what I expect!

We got to the pharmacy an hour after I had talked to the nurse and then had to wait 45 minutes - that was FUN! GRRRR!

We use the ointment- it seems easier for pink eye. I had to use it too, tho, and for me I prefer drops!! But thekids like the cream... It doesn't sting just leaves a film over your vision for 20 min or so. Feels sticky.

Well hopefully the drops can head it off, he actually took the drops pretty well. Hopefully it goes as well tomorrow.
