  • clothing alterations for a toddler

FYI for those of you who have children who are small. M falls in the 7th percentile for weight, and the 86th for height. I bought her some capris and regular leggings for the summer at the Gap and they just fell off of her. The length is right, but you can fit two of her inside them... Her height is easily 2T (3T is some slacks, especially Tea Collection ones), and her weight calls for the 12-18 month old size...

So, I decided to spend a little more money and bought capris and pants at Nordstrom, and... HAD THEM ALTERED! For free! The salesperson said that getting toddlers' clothes altered is actually more common than one would think!

I thought it was kind of brilliant myself. I'm always trying to make sure M doesn't trip over her pant legs.
In the end - to have clothes that fit - it works out to be just as much to buy slightly more expensive clothes and have them altered for free.

Great idea! DD is 99% for weight but 50% for height. Pants are way too long on her!

I can't believe it's free!! I never would have thought to do that!
Cate is a teeny thing, tall but a total rail. I have to buy her slims at gymboree and gap and they still hang on her.

It's free at Nordstrom for the items if you buy them at full price. I had about 5 pants for M, and one was on sale. They weren't strict about it, and did them all for free.
