  • Cool Baby Swing

    http://www.4moms.com/mamaroo

Anyone have one? I saw it in Buy Buy Baby and it was pretty neat...and didn't take up half a freaking room!

    Kinda pricey, though.

Most baby swings take up a crazy amount of room.

Read a review on a blog - that person loved it. We registered for one just for fun

That looks so cool. Sometimes baby gear makes my ovaries ache. I have to wait at leat 12-20 years for grandbabies.

I wanted one of those so badly, but they came out when DD #2 (our last kid) was a month or two old. I couldn't justify buying it. I would definitely register for it.

I know 2 people who have one and they SWEAR by it.
We have an old-fashioned Graco, though, and it suits Bean just fine. YMMV.

I think I might...space is a big deal for us. We really don't have the room for a full-size swing on top of everything else we have/will have.

If it helps baby sleep and be happy then it is well worth $199. That is not too expensive for a quality baby product. You cannot put a price on a mother's sanity.

But remember, it's all a gamble. My dd hated being in any swing...

One thing that a friend mentioned to me was that her DS HATED his swing if he was put in there to settle him. Once she started putting him in the swing when he was content, it allowed her to stretch the amount of time he was happy for! I never would have thought about that - I always had looked at a swing as a mommy-swaying replacement for a screaming baby

That's the way DS was. No putting him down when he was upset - he required the full 5-S's (Happiest Baby on the Block)! But he loved his swing when he was in the "quiet-alert" state. It was fantastic for eating meals. We'd put him in it, and as long as we paid him attention and talked to him often, we could usually make it through dinner without a meltdown.

a friend sent me a link to a video of the author demonstrating the technique...it's on my reading list!

The book is great! There's also a DVD that is on Netflix.
