Mine never came out of the car unless we were using the BOB for something! (We did more baby wearing when out and about). But, we have never had a problem with the seats getting too hot even in the scorching summer because we had our back windows tinted a bit. Cost us roughly $150ish and it was the best decision ever. No more sun in the baby's eyes/heat/weirdos looking in while I did a quick b-f in the backseat. Just tossing that out there.

I agree, mine was also black (& white) and I never had a heat issue. If its hot enough to get the car seat hot it will get the buckles hot first which is a problem regardless of the color. As most said, you rarely leave the infant seat in the car so it rarely gets hot. A outgrew the straps before she met the weight limit and R outgrew the length before the weight limit.

I might avoid black, only because it really does attract the sunlight (if nothing else, think about the buckles getting really hot, even when it's not seasonally warm).
Or, just ignore me and do your own thing. It's truly up to you!
Same with our dd... she far exceeded the ht before the wt. She was in a convertible by 4 months bc she was too tall.

Thanks ladies! That was a whole lot easier than I thought it would be...I'm getting so tired of researching baby items

It gets easier, I remember losing sleep over which car seat to get!

I'd get the lower weight limit carseat. Cheaper, and by the time the little one is 30lbs you're going to be sick of lugging that thing around. My husband managed to break our first snugride (long story, but it was totally his fault). He's one of those people that if something doesn't work smoothly at first try, he'll FORCE it. Yeah, well not good idea to force a carseat to do anything. Anyway, I bought a second one because I liked it so much.

FWIW, we're going with a Graco, probably the one to 22 lbs though that's not 100% yet. We won't be getting another base though, it doesn't seem like we'd use it enough to justify the cost.

Whether you need a base is an individual choice but I will say we've used it a lot for pick-up and drop-off at day care. DrK used to drop off BabyK with the carseat and I'd pick him up.

My car doesn't have the LATCH system, so it's probably worth it just to avoid the hassle of base switching every day.

Grrr...Babies R Us doesn't carry the color I want. Oh well.

Our cars have the LATCH system, but it's only for left or right side - not middle, so I feel your pain! We have the Chicco KeyFit - decided not to go with the 30 based on the recs here!

Absolutely! We're going to try to become a 1-car family in residency so it doesn't make sense for us but could make a lot of sense for others.
