DH's aunt and my MIL went together and bought us a beautiful moses basket and stand. Now that I have it set up, I'm curious what to do with it... I don't think it's for DD to sleep in, since the pad at the bottom is really fluffy, and there is a liner that is thicker and taller than even crib bumpers, which the AAP has said not to use. Should I just set it up in my kitchen for a place to set her down while I'm cooking? Have any of you had one? Just looking for ideas! It's really pretty, and apparently expensive, so I'd like to get some use out of it!

Wow I am surprised to see its so padded. I would think it would be fine to lay her in until she can sit up on her own when you're right there. Then maybe yeh stuffed animals or something, you'll be surprised how fast she outgrows it.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

We got one from DH's aunt that she bought at Neiman Marcus . Yep - over $200 in a Moses basket. I did use it a lot though. When all of my kids were little if we were going to someone's house, I'd load it with toys, diapers, a big blanket, etc and then if the baby got sleepy I old put them in it while in the same room as us. I knew I had a clean place to lay them down. With the stand, maybe just another place while. U r cooking or cleaning.-Deb

We have one that has been passed down through DH's family. With both kids I had it in the main living area for a place to put them down/naps. Also used it as a co-sleeper type arrangement next to our bed.
Right now its in the garage but I'm planning to use it for stuffed animal storage once the kids have their own room(s)!

Our MB did not have a bumper. It had a simple "mat" that we put a waterproof layer/sheet combo on.
I loved that thing! I carried him from room to room.
We finally transitioned out of it at 3 1/2 months (too long).Wife to Family Medicine attending, Mom to DS1 and DS2
