  • Naps...

At 28 months, I am mourning the loss of M's midday nap.

With this new development, she's in bed by 7:45pm and sleeps until 9am the next morning, so I really can't complain.

    When did yours stop napping?

DD1 took two 2-hour naps everyday until she was almost 5 y/o, which lulled me into a false confidence when I had DD2. She quit napping at 9 months. DS was 6 months when he stopped napping.

A stopped napping shortly after we moved here so probably 3 1/2. Luckily R shows no signs of giving his up any time soon. (Knock on wood!)

O stopped napping shortly after turning two. It takes some adjusting to no down time during the day but the earlier nights are a plus.

E stopped napping at 3 and has been sleeping like a champ at night. Truly fabulous. I have replaced nap time with a few sesame street games so I can keep my sanity for 30 -45 minutes a day.

#1,3 and 4 stopped napping a little after they turned two. #2 stopped a little after 3 and #5 is still napping like a champ at 3 and I could see her continuing her nap for another year. I should point out that as the youngest she does not have the opportunity to get to bed before 9ish so I am sure that has something to do with it.

I forced both boys to give up their naps somewhere btw 3 and 3.5 years old. (I just couldn't handle the late bedtimes anymore!!). I instituted "quiet time" in their rooms in lieu of nap, so *I* could get a break.

This but I did it a bit sooner. Quiet time was a great addition to our house!

All of my boys gave up their naps at about 27 or 28 months, which (with the older two) was exactly when I was in my first trimester with their younger brothers and could have really used a mid-day break!

I'm surprised that M has given up her nap. She was sleeping 2-3 hours and then went cold turkey. . Maybe it's a phase. I'll keep taking her to her room at nap time and see what happens.

This is actually a good time for her to give it up, because then we'll be able to go to Hawaii without having to return to the hote room each afternoon.

Mine all still nap. The oldest is 5.5y. Of course, they do get up at 5:30am and go to bed at 8pm.

I miss when K would nap. It's been so long. At least I still get to nap occasionally -- if I get the girls to watch their brother. LOL

J stopped before he turned 2 but he was such a catnapper I never really had anything to miss! I tried unsuccessfully to do quiet time. Now he gets some screen time for part of DD's nap so I get a bit of a break. Even without a nap he has always fought bedtime. I'm lucky if he's asleep by 9

                              It's all relative, isn't it?
I hear you on the fighting sleep... M has started noticing when her bedtime routine is about to begin, and tries to distract us!
It has gotten to the point where we struggle to get her into the tub--dh has started getting in the tub himself and loudly playing to lure M in. It takes about 10 minutes of back and forth to get her to undress. She starts running around again once she's ou of the tub, and it takes another 15 minutes to get her into her pjs and into bed. And phew, almost an hour after starting the bedtime routine, we have fiiiiinally crossed the finish line.
