  • Stimulating young babies

Turns out my kid is just like her mom...ALWAYS on to the next thing! When she isn't eating or sleeping she BETTER be constantly stimulated or she gets pissed fast. Her favorite is to just sit there playing with us on our laps, but obviously that isn't always an option. The ergo used to be an instant calmer, but now I better be dancing and looking at her or she isn't happy.

Any suggestions for toys/things we can do to entertain her...inanimate objects that can do this without us would be awesome!!!

The mamaroo is great for keeping her asleep, but the simple mobile above it only holds her attention for 5 minutes max and then she gets fussy...but she really really likes it for that 5 minutes. My mom has a swing at her house that has a really sweet mobile that she stares out for extended periods of time...plus I think she prefers the more violent movement of that swing to the mamaroo. Going out and buying a new swing isn't really an option right now, so we are thinking about getting a mobile that attaches to the co-sleeper. Any recs or other ideas?

I wonder if she would watch DH playing XBOX... I'm wiling to try anything to buy me a few minutes here and there.

I have no idea if this attaches to the co-sleeper but DD used to love this one, http://www.amazon.com/Tiny-Love-464-...7026383&sr=8-1. She happily stared at it for at least 20 minutes.

Do you have one of those things you lay the baby under with all of the hangie things, mirror, etc. Why am I blanking on the name?

      Like one of these: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...ductId=2402051

We got one of those for $5 at a used children's store. If you decide to go for it, definitely check the used/consignment store first!

We had the tiny love mobile with all 3 kids and I think its one of the few things they all liked.

Good idea. There is one around the
Corner. I tried an old one of those my mom had and it wasn't a hit, but it was only once and kind of a lame one

My baby loved Wee Gallery art cards. He was a very alert newborn (i.e. a non-sleeping, hard to please fussy pants ) and these things were like magic. I'd put him in the crib and lean a few against the rails and viola - I'd have an occupied, mesmerized baby.

Good luck! She'll be a smart, alert kid for sure!

M was just like her (and you). I was so jealous of those babies who would just happily lie there!

M liked the tiny love tummy time mat. You can remove toys from it and play with them individually.

She liked to look at herself and me in mirrors.

Mostly she liked sitting in our laps and being entertained. So tiring!

This is exactly why parenting is so exhausting. DS is always like, "Uh, now what? Entertain me."

I used to say that I was my DS's own personal clown for 3+ years. The only solution is to have another baby
