Talk me down or justify my concerns

    1) From 1 month to 2 months, DD dropped from the 25th to 17th percentile in the height-to-weight chart. We have to go back in at 3 months to see how her weight is doing. She eats like a champ, has plenty of wet and dirty diapers...Isn't it ok to just be small?

    2) Is she hard-of-hearing? She startles at loud noises and likes music, but if I snap my fingers on one side of her head, she doesn't turn or blink or anything...I'm thinking Mr. Holland's Opus here

    3) Is her reflux medication working? She seems much happier in general, but still drools excessively (actually pushes saliva out of her mouth with her tongue).

Is all this the result of spending waaaay too much time with her??

    1. Weight gain. If she seems normal to you I wouldn't worry about it.

    2. Have her hearing checked if you are worried.

    3. Drool can be from teething too. D started teething at 2 m adjusted age and his first tooth erupted at 4 m adjusted age.

Did they test her hearing at birth? They do in MN wasn't sure if they do in IA. If the did and it was fine I wouldn't worry but if you are worried then ask, good peds are used to a lot of questions from first time parents.

And early teething is not out of the question! Every kid is different!

They did test her hearing at birth...she passed in both ears. Developmentally, should she turn her head towards sounds at 2.5 months?

She should but have you tried something other then your finger snap, like a bell or a rattle? Maybe its the tone of the finger snap and she just doesn't recognize it...

When BabyK was about 2 month I asked the doc if he should turn toward sounds. He said not yet.

              1. DS was all over the growth chart, too. He's roughly at 50%, but he was down to 20% once, and he's been up in the 70s before, I think. Chances are she'll have a growth spurt in the next couple weeks!

              2. Will she turn towards your voice if someone else is holding her? That was the first "turning towards sound" that I noticed with DS.

              3. Is she sleeping okay? No screaming wake ups or arching her back? If those seem normal, her reflux is probably okay, but you might ask at your next appointment if her dose needs to be increased. We noticed DS's dose was way too small now that he's bigger. (But he doesn't have symptoms anymore, so we just stopped giving it to him.)

DH says she cries more than normal...I don't know what normal is :/ He thinks it's colic. I'm eliminating dairy from the diet this week to see if it's allergy related.

She can totally hear...dog just sneezed and she startled

Did I mention she HATES DH She will be perfectly happy and within 2 minutes of him having her, she's crying. Breaks my heart.

My niece was like that with my BIL until she was about 4 months. Now they're best friends, I know it sucks but it will pass.

Lol my dd was like that with dh until about 1 year old. She's the only on of 5 kids who said Mama first-- then I think every sibling name before she said dada. Lol.

She's totally a daddy's girl though. Sprints to the door when he comes home. I never get a big reaction like that-- so ultimately he wins!!

This was DH. "He has colic! Watch!"
Now, some do, but... Some babies jut cry. A lot. For no reason.
                        It sucks, but it's true.
I'm sorry she's so upset about your DH: that's hard!

Is she taking Zantac? It didn't work at all for dd, although they tell you to give it a few days to kick in.

Zantac did nothing so we switched to Prilosec. It works much better.

Ah good. What the pediatrician didn't tell us is that if you don't do a slow wean off Zantac, they are fussy. So even if the Zantac doesn't work, wean her slowly from it.

Gaahhhh! I get nightmares just thinking about reflux...
