I plan to try while I'm on maternity leave and DH is home. She's shown interest before...we'll see. I really hope we can make it happen before July, because she will be back in childcare by then.

    I plan to buy this:

DS did this for what seemed like forever. We just ignored it, and he eventually stopped on his own. I was scared to death to make any issue out of pooping!

I need to start with DD soon. She's definitely ready, but I'm not. She'll pee on the potty pretty regularly and come say "Eew gross" and come tell me when she wets or poops her diaper. Diapers are just so much more convenient!! (At least until they have more control and are able to do it all by themselves.)

We used a Lightning McQueen potty for DS. I intended to get a girly one for DD, but she watched DS learn on this one and likes it.

potty training for relatively easy for us. oldest dd started at 8 months to 1 yr old. she was day train in around 2 months and night trained around 1.5 yrs. for second dd, we start at 14 months and was day trained around 3 months. night trained before 2. first attempt to day trained fail at 1 yr. for me, i started training as soon as i see kids wanting to pop/pee (usually 6 to 8 months). there wasn't too many accidents since they still have the diaper on. night training was a little harder since i had to wake up at midnight and force dd to pee. she was not a happy camper. i did for a few months and she got used to peeing on command during the night.

I housebroke my son before he was potty trained. I was lucky to get a kid who wouldn't pee on the floor if he was diaper-free, I suppose. He didn't want to go to the potty, but he was fine with going outside, so we just left him pants-less during the summer before he turned 3. Once it started getting cold, he was happier going inside than out

Word of warning with this technique: you may need to clarify specifically that pooping outside isn't acceptable...

I tried starting when he was younger. I'd put him on the pot on a schedule and encourage him to go. My mom laughed at me and congratulated my son on having me potty-trained and I realized that she was right. I was putting more energy than it was worth into pushing potty training. It was silly to push before he was ready.

So, we started serious potty training on Sunday. We haven't left the house since Sunday. She has had 2 successful #1 since Sunday. She recognizes when she needs to go, runs to the potty, and sits down. And then doesn't go. Rinse and repeat - until she can't hold it anymore and *woosh* pees and can't stop. I feel like I'm never going to leave the house.

It took 5-6 days before we saw ANY progress. I moved the potty with us from room to room and sat her on it while she had accidents. Also, when she ran to the potty, I read her books, etc. to try and made her sit there and relax. I didnt force her to stay if she didn't want to but she would sometimes.

Also, we spent a LOT of time pantsless. It helped her feel when she had to go...

That makes me feel better. We're using a seat on the regular toilet. She already has some anxiety when we're out, and I don't want accidents because we don't have "her potty". She can stop herself when she starts and will stop herself when playing or eating if she feels the need to go. Then she gets "stage fright". Her 2 successful times have been when I was preoccupied with H - she went all by herself - I probably wouldn't have known if I didn't look before flushing. If just like to leave the house someday

Bring her potty in the car! It's so easy and makes them feel more comfortable being out and about.

To clarify, SHE was pantsless, not me.

And we definitely took the potty places, including under the stroller to the playground.

I knew what you meant I plan on bringing the potty in the car, especially for things like the park! There's just no way she'll be able to hold it until we'd get to the car at most places (like the library). I just hope it clicks soon!
