  • Pack and Plays

I searched for pack and plays on here but didn't see this covered.
There are so many options for pack and plays. I know I definitely want a bassinet but I'm wondering i f any of the other extras are worth the extra money, i.e. newborn napper, changing table.
    Any thoughts?

We have one like this - we used the bassinet part ALL THE TIME when they were little and the changing table attachment was nice when we were in a different part of the house or when we had guests with babies.

We have the Chicco one V-girl linked, and I love it! We never use the mobile or the changing table for it since we just use it for travel.

We had/have this in the Deco style and loved it. We kept it in the living room when E and S were babies so we didn't have to transport them upstairs for quick cat naps. It was also great for a changing table downstairs. You don't have to get all the bells and whistles but a basic pack n play is a must on my list especially if you have friends with babies visiting or if you travel at all.

We have the Graco one with the napper, bassinet, and changing table. I haven't used the vibrating thing or the sounds/music, but I love the light! It's just bright enough to see her but not enough to wake or bother her. I put her in the napper in the bathroom while I take a shower. She's just about too long for it, though The shade doesn't stay on very well, though. We have it set up in our bedroom, and she "slept" in the bassinet for the first 6 weeks until we wised up and moved her to the carseat

We borrowed one for K1. He hated it and ended up sleeping in the swing or carseat until he was 4mo. We bought one together with a bouncy seat used for $40 when K2 was born. He hated the swing and carseat but slept in the pnp until he was about 3-4mo. Our boys share a room so now we keep the pnp at the foot of our bed for babies that wake in the middle of the night or who are sick. We never used the changing table or mobile. But the bassinet was good for when K2 was tiny and I was recovering from my c-section; I wouldn't have been able to bend and lift him from the bottom of the pnp. Just with the bassinet, I had to be careful that my toddler didn't pull the baby out of the pnp because he could reach the baby too.

Isn't the remote awesome! Ha ha! I laughed when DH requested it, but we used it a lot!

Yes, and then it made a fun toy for DS when he was older. Mom of the year here... I took the batteries out first...

LOVE pack-n-plays! We still have one from DD17 and we have a newer one that you can make the bassinet, never had one with a changing area but I use the floor anyway. I think any of them are fine and we always take them with us on trips until the kiddos are about 3.

I will say that for the Graco one the bassinet cover and the changing table part aren't very transportable, so if you're looking for one for travel those accessories aren't really for that.

We had a simple one for the LR for quick naps, but for traveling it is the peapod all the way.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure if we'll be traveling with it yet. Probably not. GreyhoundsRUs - do/did you use the newborn napper part? It seems like just a few of them have it.

I love the design of the Graco one SS posted but it won't match with our living room unfortunately! The Chicco one looks nice too. Both are double the price of the one I was considering (which has less features): http://www.amazon.com/Graco-Pack-Pla...7614011&sr=8-1

I'll have to set up a price tracker on the other ones. If they go on sale, I'll get one of those; otherwise get the cheaper one.

We use the napper when I take a shower - I just bring it into the bathroom with me. Shortly before A was born, there was a statement released about not letting newborns nap in the napper unattended. With A's reflux, she napped best on an incline, so we utilized the Mommaroo when she did nap.

I second the peapod for travel - that thing is amazing...and huge when opened!

I received the Chicco one as a gift, so I didn't have to worry about the price. I think the one you're looking at will be perfect! If you decide you like changing them on an elevated surface (I still do, even with my toddler), you can just lay a liner down on top of the bassinet part, then remove it when you're done. (Use a liner with a waterproof side just in case...)
