  • Car Seat Woes

Help! My child hates his new car seat. Ever since we switched to a Britax Boulevard he screams the entire ride. He's completely outgrown his Graco Snugride and I have no clue what to do. We've tried giving him toys and even hung a little shatter proof mirror - nothing has helped. Any ideas? I don't want to buy another car seat but I can't take it much longer.

Will the store let you exchange it? Maybe he just needs some time to adjust to it? Good luck.

Have you tried rolling up receiving blankets and putting them next to him? Maybe he doesn't feel as cozy?

Will you let him eat in it? Can you bribe him with a special car-only toy?

Thanks guys! Off to try receiving blankets and a snack. I'll give it another week and then will try another car seat. Unfortunately I think our time to return it has passed Worst case scenario we can use it in DH's car.

Is he too upright in it? If you think he would like to be more reclined you can put a rolled up blanket or swimming noodle in to change the angle of the seat. Our marathon is pretty upright rear facing but both kids liked it, but I remember friends doing the reclining trick.

Also, I know this is controversial, but maybe you could try and sell it on craigslist? In my area, I'm part of a parents group and there are regularly things for sale. You can show a receipt and explain how it was barely used and I bet you could get a decent price for it.

Lamorna, you may have saved me! I think he was actually too reclined. I moved the seat into the most upright position and there was only a tiny bit of fussing on the way home. Way better than the usual screamfest. Hopefully that will solve it. If not, I will try selling it on craigslist (good idea).
