Gotcha - totally makes sense. I was just wondering if there was some physical sign or something that I didn't know about that indicates a lack of protein. I think it sounds like you are doing great! Since the allergy stuff has been discussed already, I guess the only thing I'd add is the wholesome baby website has some good ideas and info on feeding solids to a baby. But, really, I think it sounds like she's eating great for a baby!

We're also not having much luck with solids. She likes yogurt and pears, but she'll barely take a few bites of anything else. DS would eat anything we put in front of him. Kids are so weird... I'm wondering if she'd rather skip the purées and take small bites, but now I'm scared after the choking/allergies thread. DS had a really strong gag reflex for a long time, so he was close to a year old before we did small pieces of foods. When do most babies drop purées?Laurie

Hmm we did purées for about a week before going to small bites. I'm actually not an advocate of baby or weaning or anything, it was just easier and she does fine, though the choking thread is making me be more cautious about watching her and chopping things into very small pieces.
She's still breastfeeding, but solid food IS THE SHIT. If we are eating and she is not she is PISSED. She will attack you for food. She's eating 3 full meals a day now on top of breast milk and hasn't refused anything I've given her yet. That's not really surprising though, she's been a big eater since day 1. She's into straws too. She know good stuff comes out...she helped herself to my iced coffee Friday and I was holing her and the coffee in one arm trying to unload the car :/
That being said, we're going down the constipation path and girl is about to be banned from bananas, grains, and is going to say hello to prunes.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

DD seems to be waking up with an upset belly/needing to burp in the middle of the night a LOT since we started solids but that could be reflux more than constipation I suppose.Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)

How can you tell on the constipation? [Other than a lack of poop...].
ETA: We're still doing some purees--she eats the Plum and Happy Baby pouches when we are out of the house and I still puree a lot of things in the food mill (awesome!) and immersion blender.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.
