Baby girl who is only 2 is now having nightmares about daddy working...last night she woke up screaming and hubby was heading out the door as he has just been called in..but he heard her tell me about her dream...she dreamed daddy was mad at her and that is why he didn't come home and went to work... He had to go so I had to comfort her...he was called in for a surgery but I feel sick...he is a great daddy and is home as much as he can be but she is having a really hard time with home call and him going in and out...I really feel for him right now as I know he feels awful but I am more concerned about her...

That sounds so impossibly frustrating and heart aching. I wish I had some magic fairy dust to make it all better.

Just hugs for all of you. My gut says to just keep talking to her about it and reassuring her, and have your DH do the same.

Maybe he can give her a special toy that she holds when scared or when he leaves the house?

Hugs. I hate nightmares. Good news though is that she probably won't remember them. D has nightmares and he doesn't remember the ones from 2. He remembers a lot of things I wouldn't think a kid would remember. He's even told me about a clock in my belly that he listened to. Just yesterday he remembered that a nurse called a finger stick a mosquito TWO years ago. He's only 6.

Thank you! I was hoping he could take some time off so we could have family time but NOT happening...I like the idea of a special toy though- thank you! Last night was another night where she woke up shrieking in terror that he was gone...it was 1 am and he had just walked in the door...I think him rushing into her helped a LOT! It's just so heartbreaking....
