  • 11 month sleep regression?

My daughter has always slept through the night since we did sleep training with her at 3 months of age. Lately, she has developed a night waking problem that I can't figure out. She wakes up upset, but when I go to her she is cheerful and playful and in no apparent distress at all. I have tried giving her Tylenol in case it's teething, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I briefly comfort her, and then as soon as I leave, she freaks out again. The only thing that seems to work is to give her a bottle, but I REALLY don't want to get into the habit of doing this because I don't want her to develop a night-eating habit. She has never really needed to eat during the night, so there is no reason that she should have to at 11 months old. My suspicion is that she is overtired because lately she has stopped taking her morning nap and I don't think she's quite ready to take just one nap, but that's all she will take. Any suggestions are much appreciated! Thank you!!

How long ago did it start? Could it be a growth spurt? How many total hours of naps and overnight sleep is she getting?

I'm a huge fan of the Baby Sleep Site. Here's her sample 11-month old schedule. It sounds like she went through something similar - her son briefly dropped one nap, but then he started taking it again soon after. http://www.babysleepsite.com/schedul...-old-schedule/

Thanks for the link. That was really informative. I like the sample schedule... I don't think it's a growth spurt because I just went in and offered her a bottle (after several failed attempts at soothing her without a bottle) and she refused the bottle... Since she stopped taking the morning nap, her afternoon nap has been anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3 hours. Lately she's been getting anywhere between 9.5 and 11 hours of sleep at night (she used to sleep 11 or 12 hours at night). I really hope she starts picking up the morning nap again but it seems to have been on it's way out for quite awhile and when she does take it, she doesn't take an afternoon nap.
