    What are your Favorites?

N is getting a play kitchen from Grandma for her birthday. She'll probably get some play food too.

I like the B. Toy line at Target and have my eye on the keys, phone, and musical instrument set.
Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

A loves musical instruments - especially drums, egg shakers, and her xylophone. She is also really into cars right now - she has one of the Tonka "Chuck and Friends" sets that she got for her bday and she is happy as a clam. She makes car noises and drives them around. She also likes balls (snicker snicker ). She gets giddy when you roll her the ball and she "throws" it back. She also got some Little People, and she likes playing with those, too!

Oh - and the Little Tikes shopping cart - it's only like $5 more than the others and is huge and very sturdy. Plus, we didn't want a bunch of cardboard boxes for A to eat (what the other carts seem to come with).

Things we have our eyeball on include the Cozy Coupe and some maracas. Next time we're near an Ikea, we will get some toys there (like their plush fruit). She has blocks and will stack them/knock them down, but doesn't really "get" them yet.

I was going to say Little People too. The LP Noah's ark and the school bus are the favorites. They like cars and trains too. Yes on the music toys but stay away from the B Toys keyboard that looks like a cat; every parent of a kid that has one tells me that the thing is possessed and plays for no reason. Also, I think it's playschool that makes a ball popper that my kids love.

My kids have so many toys that they don't remember what they have. Toys multiply and we are still opening toys from K2's first birthday last June. And they play with all of them except for the stuffed animals. I'd really prefer gifts of clothes, books, zoo passes, gift cards, or contributions to the kids' college funds.

I second LP, and any of the toys in the ball popper line. Kids love that thing. If you can find the, Fisher Price Roll-A-Round toys are really fun.

We also love all things Little People and my kids still play with them at almost 3 & 5. The Cozy Coupe was a favorite of my niece. Otherwise I think you got some good suggestions.

Are my kids just freaks? None of them (ages 2, almost-5, and almost-7) really play with our LP stuff very much.

I second (third?) the busy ball popper, ALL of my kids STILL love that thing.

I think the Little People stuff is adorable, but DS wouldn't ever play with it either. DD loves them in the bath, but she doesn't play with them much otherwise.

The ball popper is great! It's ridiculously loud, but it keeps them entertained. For the same reason, we like a lot of the V-Tech stuff. Does she have the V-Tech Learning Laptop? That thing is another big favorite. Also, anything that DD can wave around is a hit. I found a Disney princess book and wand for Christmas that I think she'll love. Doctor kits usually have the little hammers if you don't want to go the princess route.

See, I confiscated the doctor kit because my kids were waving around the hammer, putting the syrenge in the ball popper in a (futile) attempt to make it into a projectile. . . I generally avoid anything that they can wave around. This http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...=33-99952515-2 was just sent to the resale shop because it was a destructive weapon when they would hold it by the handle and swing it. And another Thomas engine is on it's way to resale since K2 hit me with it and cut my scalp open during a play date. (He rarely does stuff like that. I was so shocked that I held my arms open and welcomed him as he was waving the damn thing at my head. If it was K1, I would have been prepared to defend myself.) This is the ball popper BTW: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...n=pla&pla=plat. Fortunately, the only toys that will actually pop out of it are the balls that come with it. It's noisy as heck but at least I don't have matchbox cars flying out of it.

Good point, MrsK, it depends on *how* your DD plays with the toys! I remembered another toy that's great for this age - a push walker. It helps stabilize them as they're learning to walk. We have a lion that we got for DS, and he still loves to play with it. We're thinking about getting this one for DD: Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Stroll-Along Walker.

We have an Ikea push wagon that dd loves. She puts all her blocks into it and even though she's just starting to walk with it, she loves it!!!

No little people here. And the ball popper broke the same day we got it.

Stacking blocks, sorting shapes, MegaBlocks and puzzles were pretty big hits in our house. They still try to see how tall they can stack things. And of course toy cars/trucks. I have them in every size from matchbox to ride on. And all kids who come over love them.

I'm trying to think what Ziva (1y) goes for at my house....she actually likes baby dolls. Which is weird to me because Phe isn't that into it....but I guess it's what they see you play with? My mom and sister insisted I have girlie toys for Phe...purse, fake lipstick, cell phone, compact, doll, stroller, crib....she builds Lego laser guns with the boys. :eye roll: though she wears a skirt, stockings and baby legs on her arms while she does it.

FWIW, DH thinks walkers are super dangerous, and the AAP is opposed to them.

I think by walkers they mean push toys, no?
