  • Teething Rash?

BabyJ has had what looks like a teething rash on his chin and lower cheeks for a couple weeks now. I've been trying to wait it out and let it get better on its own, but it seems like it's not improving. (It also looks super dry, maybe chapped.) Are there any creams I should've putting on it, or is it time for a trip to the ped?

    Have you tried coconut oil?

Sounds like a response to excessive drooling (didn't you mention before that he has a tendency towards eczema?)

I carried a cloth diaper around to dab excess saliva off (instead of wiping hard), and you can "seal" the area from further irritation with something like Aquaphor. To treat already-broken skin, I second the Bottom Balm that ST recommended.

Awesome, I'll give it a try.
I'm definitely thinking it's from all the drooling. I've gotten the poor guy up in the morning a couple times and found the bed sheet beneath his head soaked. We used Vanicream when he had bouts of eczema on his legs/arms in the past and it cleared right up. I just started getting worried about the rash on his face because it's been there for a while. Hopefully this clears it up.

Aquafor is great for it! If it doesn't clear up with that in a couple days, I'd see your pediatrician. DS had something that started out looking like a drooling rash that wouldn't go away, and he had us do a round of anti-fungal cream on it, then several weeks of Aquafor.

How many times a day did you put the cream on?

It was once or twice per day for the anti-fungal, I forget. I think you can do Aquafor as many times as you want, whenever it starts looking dry.

Aquafor here as well. Worked like a charm back when mine were babies.
