Any recommendations? N is at that stage where she always wants to be running around and wont always hold our hands. I'd like to get a harness (sound better than leash?) for our trip to DC and outings.

We have a monkey backpack from Target. My kids liked it so much that they play with it at home.

Ours is also from Target, its a dog - the kids loved it when they were little.

          +1. Or maybe it's a lion?

I had a harness that I found online. It's not a backpack and was secure. Mine was like this. I had one in camouflage.

Eddie Bauer makes one that is a stuffed bear or monkey. We got the bear for K1 just after K1 was born. We rarely use it as a harness but he loves it so much that he sleeps with his "Eddy Bear." It's his favorite toy and very convenient that we can attach it to him when he insists on taking it out of the house.
