    Teething

DS has started waking 2x per night and crying for 5 minutes or so before going back to sleep. It's been going on for the past week. Could this be teething? He's 19 months, so maybe some upper molars are coming in? He's not drooling or chewing on things that I've noticed, but I'm not sure what else it could be.

Probably 2nd year molars. Ugh, molars...

I'm not sure but the age seems right for molars. Poor little guy!

How do I know whether E is teething? She's been super fussy the last two evenings, screaming like she's hurting at bedtime, and pretty fussy all day too with sporadic napping. She's fussed through meals too, which isn't like her. I think she has a super mild sunburn, but I don't know whether that would cause her to be like this. I can't feel any teeth coming in, but she's been chewing and biting a lot for the last couple of weeks.

That sounds like C before he started. He had about three weeks with a lot of biting. The real giveaway was the night time fussiness though, very unlike him. Maybe try some tylenol and see if she sleeps better? If she does, it's probably teething.
Our pedi though him waking at night was due to a developmental milestone, object permanence etc. but I don't think so. It stopped as soon as his teeth erupted. I hope it passes quickly for both of you!

I just worry that it's from the sunburn or something else, but I feel like it points to teething, since she's 6 months now. We gave her a bit of tylenol tonight, and although she skipped most of her solids for dinner, she nursed really well plus took a few extra ounces from the bottle, and she went right to sleep. We see the pediatrician tomorrow, so I can ask then. I know she needs teeth, but I was hoping we had at least another month before we had to deal with this.

Try Tylenol at bedtime and see if there's a difference.
She isn't old enough for Motrin yet, correct?

I think you can start ibuprofen at 6 months and 12lbs. I'll ask about that tomorrow, because I hear it works much better than the tylenol.

I have my own theory that when they start teething is related to how much they like their solids. C started using his teeth as soon as he got them lol.
Hopefully the sunburn will cool off overnight. It may just be that too, you never know.

She's been on solids for a month now and generally loves them, with the exception of peas and green beans. The last couple of days she hasn't been eating well though, fussing a lot in between bites. My mom said she couldn't even see the sunburn, so it's really mild, but it's still possible it could be hurting her. Poor hubby was just so broken up hearing her cry so much and not knowing what to do.

It's really hard when there's not a whole lot you can do for them Our little guy had a worse time teething than he did very sick with the flu. Keeping him distracted as much as possible helped though. He watched far too much Baby Einstein those couple of weeks but he loves it. Teething sucks.

Yup. Whenever something was "off" with the girls, we assumed teeth and tried Tylenol

Anybody ever had a teething rash? E has a rash on her chin, which isn't that surprising to me given the amount of spitup and drool we deal with daily. I noticed when I was getting her ready for bed though that she has some spots on her belly. I was a little worried about a potential allergy, especially since I haven't been great at waiting a few days in between new foods, but then someone mentioned teething rashes, so I thought that might be the culprit. Obviously I'll keep an eye on it and talk to her pediatrician if it gets worse.

Yep. Not much you can do but keep the area dry. It will go away

                                Dry the skin, put some
                                EMAB bottom balm on it.
