I have to say, kudos to your DH, ST. I am so impressed that he's home with a newborn, even though I know what he's dealing with is tough. You've really got a good man.

Do you have any luck with the 5 S's (Happiest Baby on the Block)? Not just the bouncing, but all 5 at once? DD was one who needed all 5, and she needed them strongly. (Double swaddle, very loud white noise on our phone not just saying "shhh", fast bouncing)
I guess it depends on your pediatrician about the reflux. Mine gave us a prescription for a low dose with very little persuasion. He just said the easiest way to rule out reflux was to try Zantac for a few weeks and see if it helped.
Also, will he go to sleep when he's like that? Have you noted how long he's been awake when he starts having a fit? Mine also got screamy when they were overtired.Laurie

Could he be constipated? If you say it's happening at regular times, then maybe he's straining or uncomfortable?
Dd had reflux--she'd refuse the bottle and only dream feed at night. She'd cough a lot and cry all the time. If it's reflux, I think she was uncomfortable all day long, not just occasionally.
Zantac didn't work, but Prevacid did help her.married to an anesthesia attending

DH said he screamed from 10-2 yesterday and was fine after that. Happy as a clam. Had another fit last night but not as bad. Normal witching hour stuff.
Sounds like the 10-2 thing happened again today.
So yeah, maybe not reflux. I don't know!!Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

What time did he wake up prior to the screaming starting? What happened around the time he settled? Is he getting 4-5 naps a day, between 45 minutes and 2 hours long?
I agree it could also be GI or reflux related, but if he doesn't seem to be in pain, sleep could also be a part if the puzzle.Laurie

So I took him in to the appt I scheduled on Tues. I considered cancelling it Thursday because he was perfect, but the we've maxed our deductible and the copay was cheaper than the cancellation fee...yes, this is why health insurance is messed up, I know
I felt like an idiot bringing in my plump (gained another lb in the past 2 weeks--now 16 lbs), smiling baby. The little stinker was cooing at the doc on the exam table. He was likely hit by the same cold that DH and I got later on the day he screamed for 4 hours straight and just felt sucky. The doctor did say if it continues to be an issue, they'll call in Zantac for him to see if it helps.
So yeah, he's fine. Just a little shit who likes to torture his daddy and loves the boob.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

Omg N too! It's alllllll about daddy. She adores him. I love it, but I think her heart is going to break when he starts intern year.
One random question...I have noticed this kiddo has a lot of mucus in his poop but it's otherwise normal... Should I be worried? It not always so bad but he had a blowout this morning that was awfulMarried to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

Yeah, transitioning off of vacation or a non call weekend is usually rough for C.
Regarding mucus poop, seems to happen to D if she's got a cold. They swallow it bc they can't blow it out.Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)

Just catching up on this thread and although my DS is a little younger than yours, OMG I feel like I could have written this thread. The screaming and the gas and the pooping and the mucus. Ridiculous.-L.Jane
