  • Sleep!

After E fell off the bed Saturday night, I decided she was done coming to bed with us. She nurses for comfort, most nights, not because she's hungry, and it's just disrupting all of our sleep. Last night I started efforts to keep her in her crib all night. When she wakes up, she very quickly crawls to the side of her crib near the door and either pulls up or just sits and screams. It's not even crying, just screaming for attention. The second I go in and pick her up, she'll fall right back asleep, and she wakes up and screams as soon as you put her back down. The plan was to pick her up and get her to stop screaming briefly, just so she knows she's not alone, we still love her, and we aren't completely ignoring her, then put her back down, soothe her some more, and then leave, whether or not she's screaming. Repeat after 5 minutes. I also turned her mobile on when I put her back down, because it seemed to distract her from screaming. And I turned the sound off of the monitor - I can still hear her from my room, but it's not as loud, and I can see her. She went down at 7, and woke up at 11:30, 12, 2, 4:30, and 6. Most of the time she actually went back to sleep after being put back down, although a couple of times it took two rounds. At 4:30 I was so exhausted that I put her in the swing, but I feel like it was progress. At 6 I let her nurse, and we played in bed for a bit (with me carefully watching her) before I got up to get ready for work. I'm hoping it gets easier over the next few nights and she's back to sleeping through the night before too long!

    Sleep!

I've used the Goodnight, Sleep Tight (Sleep lady) method with both of mine. Both kids did the same thing you described. Good luck!! Consistency is always key!!

ETA: Please feel free to ignore.
