  • I got an easy baby!!!

You guys! I think I've got what you'd call an easy baby. M was either asleep or screaming. Never anything in between. C is the highly advanced model--sleeps 8-10 hours in a row at night, and is just so freaking happy.

Who knew there were babies who - when tired - just fall asleep in your arms/car seat/carrier. I've got one of those!!!

Even with a baby, 5-year old M is still the needier one.

Tell me about your easy babies. I can't believe some of you were living this life, while I was pacing the outside of restaurants and ultimately having to have my meals packed up to take in a car with a still-screaming baby in the back.

In all seriousness, D is a HAPPY baby. So smiley and interactive (even in the middle of the night!!). It's a lot easier than C who was so serious about everything. D is flirty and happy and charming. It's all very cute.

I never had one of those, but a good friend was telling me about her baby (at the time ... this was like 10 years ago) and how he would just hang out in his infant carrier next to her while she did her thing and after a bit when he got bored and started to protest, she would just turn the carrier so he was facing another direction and he would settle down.

          Blew. My. Mind.

ETA: I'm glad for you, though, you deserve this!!

Our ds14 is like this. The sweet boy came out of the womb smiling (no, really). He still is as laid back and easy going as he ever was. So glad that C is such a contented baby!!

Yay! My Alex was the same way. He is 15 now and is still easy going, happy-go-lucky.

              You deserve it.

DS was like this as a newborn, but in his bouncer. He would wring his hands together to let you know he was hungry so never cried for food. He only occasionally cried when he was wet or tired, or teething. He's been sleeping 12 hours a night since 9 months and I think he would have been a better sleeper earlier if he wasn't in our room. He's always happy and smiling. I can't believe we got so lucky with a first baby. We're screwed if we have a second.

Oh man, jealous!! DD was easier than DS, but I wouldn't say she was an easy baby. (Still took 14 months to STTN.) It's good to have the difficult one first, I think.

Jackpot! My second was a breeze compared to my first. It blew my mind that he'd fall asleep and stay asleep while we were out and about. We joke that if our kids' order had been reversed we would have been googling "do it yourself baby exorcism". Thank god we didn't know there was such thing as a baby that liked sleeping during the day. Enjoy your easy babe.

I would be fucked if I had had M second. I'd have been more confident, sure, but like Tara, I knew C was different the moment she arrived.

. This one totally skews your sense of how many kids to have. I'm DONE, right???

I had my hard baby second. I am DEFINITELY done. She didn't sleep through the night consistently until she was 4.5 YEARS old.

                            I went 5 years without a good night's sleep.

                              I got an easy baby!!!

Both of mine have been pretty easy. Each in their own ways. They were never sleep and hang out in the carrier kids (both demand lots of interaction), both they are both what I would describe as "reasonable."

They are good sleepers. Occasionally we can get them both to sleep in with us til 9:30 or 10! I can't say I've ever been really sleep deprived once they hit a month old. The corollary to that is both kids have slept with us. Some in the cosleeper, but mostly
In my arms. They still wake up, but it's never bad because the object of their desire (the boob) is right there waiting. So I don't know how much of the lack of sleep deprivation is good sleeper vs sleeping arrangement. The trade off of being less comfortable overnight was worth it to me though!!!!

I wrote this as Baby J is randomly up..
