  • Swim Class

We have not been swimming for a few weeks due to scheduling conflicts. K2 (3.5yo) is freaking out in the pool and crying for momma. I'm sitting at the side of the pool grinding my teeth. He's never done this and it is taking all I've got not to "rescue" him.

Doesn't help that Lambie does that at bedtime too.

            Swim Class

We stopped swimming lessons when school started, but may pick back up in a week or two (1x a week) to give DS1 a way to burn more energy.

Give it a little more time to see how he adapts, and if it's a no-go, maybe a different activity for a while?

He managed. Screamed and yelled for half the class but he was okay by the end. He's been swimming with the same teacher for almost a year now. It's just this summer that he sort of fell behind while swimming finally "clicked" for K1 and he's really taken off. I think the instructor is right that it's time to put them in separate classes. K1's ready to move on and K2's shenanigans during swim class cut into his instruction time. K2 needs to be with other little ones so he can get past his anxieties. Funny, last year, when I enrolled them in swimming together, K2 was the stronger swimmer and we were counting on him to be a positive influence on K1.
