  • Infant uti?

C has slept for 45 minutes in the last 8 hours. She hasn't slept longer than hour-long stretches in days, but still seems relatively hapoy during the day. Otherwise at night she's SUPER fussy.

I'm going to call her doctor to see if we can squeeze her in. I'm suspecting a uti (the pedi said a few days ago that this could be it).

C's pee doesn't particularly stink (a little stronger smelling than usual though, due to not eating as well?).

Have any of you btdt? Before the clinic opens, I was just curious if there are some glaring symptoms you've seen.

We haven't had one yet, but I did have her tested once because she had had a mystery fever for a few days. They just put a bag on her, under her diaper, and wait for her to pee (I nursed to try and speed it up). It's pretty easy and worth checking out just to make sure!

Is she febrile? That's usually a good sign. What's her wet diaper status (normal numbers? Fewer than normal?).

That doesn't seem like a clean catch. But looks like they find what they're looking for that way. I'd love to not have to have C catheterized!

She doesn't have a fever. She did earlier in the week for about 36 hours. She's got normal wet diapers, but they are a bit smellier than usual. Not smelly in a foul way, but more concentrated than usual.

DH says less likely to be feverish and then it goes away but the prior fever could be unrelated. Don't need a fever to have a uti of course.

He said they should check her ears/throat though bc something viral is more likely than a UTI and you would avoid the cath that way.

              Thanks, E.

We checked her ears and throat on tues, but that's not to say it couldn't be those things by now. The no fever baffles me. She is vomiting and not eating well now...

They do the wipes, and then the bag has adhesive strips that they stick to her. I hope you get some answers!

                    Oh! That makes sense, Allison.

The doctor didn't find anything wrong--and based on what I told her (fever resolved last Wednesday, wet diapers, etc), she said it didn't seem like a uti. And of course, the stinker was smiling through the whole thing.

She said if it's a stomach bug, to try a probiotic. She's actually on them. Have any of you noticed belly pain WITH them?
