  • Sibling Naps

T&S's comment in ALOY's napping thread made me think of this, but I didn't want to hijack...
How do you manage the younger sibling's naps with an older one in the house? Right now DS2 is so young he just nurses until he falls asleep in my arms or a swing, but what do when they get older and need more scheduled naps? Do younger siblings just have to get used to taking more naps in cars or the Ergo?

Afternoon nap time is sacred in our house. The house stops from 1-3, for everyone. For H, she would catch morning naps in the car or out. If we were home, I would put her down in the swing for her AM nap and play with A.

Afternoon nap (1-4) is sacred but all others are just random. She seems to do fine with that.

I can't wait until we get to that point around here. I can usually get their naps to overlap at least a little in the afternoon, but with DS2 napping in my arms I'm not really free to get much done.

YeAh the early months were hard for sure. There was a lot of baby wearing and freezer meals or eggs for dinner

The K Bros napped together and K2 gave up napping before K1. Lambie rarely gets to nap in her crib. She takes 2-3 naps on the go during the day, either in the ergo or in the car. She pretty much falls asleep every time she's in the car.

Afternoon nap was also sacred for me! Starting from when DD was a newborn, I made sure I at least got a little bit of overlapping naptime. It's still rough on me now that DS has dropped his nap, and it's been about a year... I would let DD fall asleep nursing or in my arms but transfer her quickly to her crib so I got at least a little time to myself.
