Transition to Crib

DS2 is 2 months now, and he's sleeping almost exclusively swaddled in the Rock n Play. I tried transitioning him to the crib last night, but it was a total failure. (I think the longest he slept was 5 minutes. I eventually gave up and put him back in the Rock n Play.) I'm not in a particular rush to transition him, but I know that a flat crib is the safest place to sleep, and I'd rather make the switch before he's too set in his ways.

If your baby ever slept somewhere other than a crib (co-sleeper, your bed, your arms, swing, etc.), how old was he/she when you made the switch?

We moved both girls into their cribs around six months old. It just wasn't worth it for me to have them not next to me when they were still waking up every two hours! We did cry it out and transition them to their crib and undid there swaddle all at the same time. It was kind of a hellish week, but everyone seems pretty well-adjusted now! We had no real text me it was just one day they were sleeping in our room in the pack and play and the next night they were sleeping in their crib. I don't know if there's a right or wrong way!

Our kids start in a Moses basket, then the bassinet in the pack n play, then the crib at around 7 months. (Crib is in their room).

We moved DS from his bassinet to the crib at three months. He was getting too big for the bassinet. The crib was in our room until we moved into our house when he was 9 months. I think he was ready to go to his own room at 8 months though. I also felt like it was much easier to have him in our room with frequent night feedings.

Transition to Crib

We used the co sleeper from birth (though he was in my arms most of the night) and moved to the crib about 2 months ago. 8 months now. He's only in there the first 1/3-1/2 of the night though. He did adjust though, despite constant initial wakings

We are in the midst of transitioning to crib now. DS slept in the bassinet next to out bed until he was 3.5 months. Now I put him to bed at night in the crib and bring him to bassinet at his first wake up for the remainder of the night. I'm hoping that he will slowly start sleeping longer in crib until he STTN again.

We are transitioning to the crib today. We set it up last night with the intention of C sleeping in it for her first nap today, but when we got home from dropping big sister off at school, she was overtired and I wanted to have coffee without a screaming/transitioning baby.

With M, she started out in the crib, so I have no idea what to expect today. I'm honestly kind of pissed that dh pushed and pushed for a bassinet, yet here *I* am having to deal with transitioning. I don't think it's going to go well, because C doesn't sleep anywhere but in her bed. Groan. Not in the car, carrier, anywhere.

Well it sounds like we have a while before I need to start thinking about making the transition, so that's a good thing. He's sleeping really well in the Rock N Play, so I don't mind waiting a while to try the crib again. I just didn't know if there was a benefit to doing the transition earlier, before they get too set in their ways. (Especially since the RNP has him sleeping on a bit of an incline.)

We're staying at my parents house for Christmas and I was thinking of buying a second PNP, but I think I'll just buy another Rock N Play and have it shipped to their house instead. No need to make things any more difficult than they need to be.

DS slept in his car seat. (Oops, big no no! ) We put it in his room and let him sleep in it there at first. Then when he seemed used to his room, we transitioned to the crib. Not that it helped. He was a terrible sleeper no matter what we did.

30 minutes into C's first nap in her new crib in her new room. So far, so good. Even if she were to wake up now, I'd call this a success. She actually fell asleep in her new bed.

I did lay her down crosswise so that her head is touching the bars. She seems to like the pressure of something against it, and I thought the crib would feel less enormous if I lay her down that way.

We'll see how it goes!

Eta: do check the weight limit on your RNP. I'm sure you're not there yet, though.

The weight limit is 25 lbs, and DS was 14.9 lbs at his 2 month checkup. If he keeps growing at this rate we're in trouble.

It prob helps to do it earlier, but if it is at the expense of a sleep routine that is doing just fine as it is, why bother? I only transitioned J to the crib when the cosleeper setup was unsafe and we needed some space.
