  • Warm carseat clothes

DS generally wears a hoodie or a thin fleece jacket in his carseat, then we change him into a big puffy coat if he's going to be outside. This is a pain, but the memo on not wearing puffy coats in carseats has been received and observed.

So MIL wants to get him a warmer thing to wear in the car. I think we'll probably tell her to get a thick fleece. But she has her eye on this: http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/...=COSMIC%20BLUE (spoiled kid)

Do you guys think that kind of ultralight insulation is ok in a carseat? I honestly have no idea where the line is here.

The line is that if you can adjust the straps for regular clothes/single layers, and then add the jacket and buckle him in without re-adjusting the straps, you're good to go. That one would worry me a little for puffiness, but if it squishes enough that you can get him buckled, it's probably okay.

The Thermoball folds into a small pouch, I think it would be a great idea (just don't turn the heat up too high in the car, lol).

Love this jacket! In all honestly, I did loosen the straps just a smudge to accommodate my weak hands and a thin fleece, but I didn't need to loosen it anymore for the Thermoball. My only caution is that it's really easy to accidentally get the fabric stuck in the clasps, which leads to me saying nasty words.

Thanks for the reassurance. It's hard to tell in the picture how puffy it really is, and I'm no connoisseur of outdoor gear.

Super cute! We have a really thin Columbia down jacket and I can get it in w/o adjusting the straps. I agree that I think you should be fine.
