• Its Just a Cold

My child is under a year, so of course my child is not yet eligible for the measles vaccine. It hasn't been around in 15 friggen years and this is the year it has to rear its ugly head. I live close enough to ground zero of the out break for people in my area (I know of a few) who just pop over to Disney for the day. And now my child has what looks like the beginning of a cold and instead of being all blase about I have to cross my fingers that its just a cold and not something that could develop into something potentially worse. I hate that I keep thinking about the little girl that was sneezing on the library toys and wondering how many kids did that and if any of those kids weren't vaccinated. oy. I cannot live in a bubble until E is 12 months.

Omgoodness, it is just so upsetting, we shouldn't have to worry about this anymore. Ugh! Will be praying that it's just a cold.

L. Jane - hoping it's just a cold. In areas where there are known cases, they are vaccinating babies younger than usual (six months I think). It might be worth looking into, for your own sanity.

The CDC just released the 2015 guidelines that included vaccinating infants 6-11 months who would be traveling internationally. If it can offer protection to <12 months, I say ask your ped. I suspect the risk domestically (in your region) is greater than the risk internationally right now.

I would be worried, too. Odds are it is just a cold, but ugh! Damn anti-vaxers!

We're flying to California with the boys at the end of February, and I'm really nervous too. We were actually debating canceling the trip at one point, but I just don't know. It seems like scary things are lurking everywhere now, and like you said, you can't just stay inside for 12 months straight.
I hope you're all feeling better soon.

I'm nervous about flying with E in a couple of weeks! She did get her first MMR in November though.

Thanks Howfunitistobelovedbyyou

It was just a cold with a side of major teething. His top two teeth dropped like lead balloons. I swear teaching is a barbaric form of torture given to infants so that we don't remember the pain. I don't think adults could handle this much pain. Its got to be worse than childbirth because it lasts so much longer. I can't imagine my mouth hurting ALL THE FRIGGEN TIME.
