Hi! I would love to hear how your little ones are doing, and if there have been any new words!

C still isn't putting together 2-word phrases yet (she's 2 years 2 months old), but she has started saying her sister's name (so sweet!), and has words for some animals, when she's hungry ("nomnom") and a few others. It seems like it's coming together and she's expressing herself more with words.

E is doing pretty well. He's two years three months and talking more everyday. Not much of it is clear so I'm a constant translator for him but him being able to communicate to me is great. He has so many words but again, most of them are unclear you anyone but me. He has started to fight speech therapy. He still likes to make up signs for words with sounds he doesn't want to make or hasn't learned to make.

      That sounds a bit frustrating.
The fact that they're able to communicate with us is half the battle! I get discouraged when I see where dd1 was at this age. I know I shouldn't look up old videos on her on my iPhone...

It's more frustrating for E than me. He knows I can understand him but he says the same things to everyone else and they don't understand him. His unwilling to participate in therapy is frustrating for me.

If C is starting to name things, I bet she's going to have a word explosion soon, fingers crossed.

At 2years and 5 months, M has gone off the rails. She definitely repeats everything you say to her and then some. She even has the tone and sighs to go along with what she says. Her expressions get me everytime. I really need to start recording her. Had the time, I have to think. Did that really happen and did she just say that?

Is he working on articulation? I understand your frustration. Nobody understood my oldest, except me.

At 18 months, we have just "mo", (more) and "hi", consistently. She's trying a lot more words now though, so I'm holding off on assessing until she's gotten a little more practice with some of the new progress she's made. In recent weeks I've heard "baa" (bear), "si" (slide), "towel" (right on!) "owl", and "eye", which is pretty quick progress considering there were basically no words a month ago. Her doc was comfortable waiting on assessing too, so we're just taking it easy. She's moving rooms at daycare to be with some slightly older kids so that might help get her talking more.

Kind of. We started with turtle vowels and then on some word, the baby version of it. Thank you is tay tu. He for the longest time would not do consonant long vowel with many letters so we had to break his word down. Please = letter sound p Eee. It took forever for him to say peee and it still occasionally is keee. Police car is key car. He doesn't do well with p, b, and avoids s. ( with out having to say he isn't developmentally ready for l, r and f so those are avoided to.)

MSB, E also just busted out the word "towel" the other day! So funny the words they pick up on.

I noticed a marked increase in words as we approached 19 months. Mama, dada, eye, nose, more, Apple, moo, bark, play, hello, bye bye, baby, out, towel, book, etc. Probably around 30 words. Some words we hear on a regular basis, while others she just says out of the clear blue (and then won't repeat). Some are intelligible, while others are only understood by me and DH. We can't get her to say her name, she will call herself mama, dada, and then baby lol. I've also noticed in the last 2 weeks that E tries to repeat things DH or I say. Not full sentences, but a key word or two.

This has been quite a change in just the last 6 weeks. I would say she had less than 10 words at her 18 month appointment and I mentioned it. I knew I didn't have to be uber concerned, but I had hearing issues at her age, so I'm always a little cautious.

I always feel like some big change is just around the corner, and I hope that is the case for all of your little ones.

When C was a toddler, we had just moved to Milwaukee. He was pretty verbal, but was still missing a few key consonant combinations.

We were walking down the sidewalk in front of our new home and he was picking up sticks and carrying them around. At one point he turned around and shouted gleefully at the top of his voice, "Momma, Momma, I go' two dicks!!!"

It's finally starting to pick up for C!
All of a sudden, I asked her if her socks had gotten wet, and she said "not wet!" And she will go up to her sister and say "you ok?" Finally!!!
