But also, that's an absurd policy for a preschool. Shame on them.

It's a peer model program. They need the models to be trained to be examples for the delayed kids who are not yet toileting.

I get it. But if she brings so many other skills to the table as a model, it's dumb to kick her out when there are non toilet trained children in her class. That's confusing for the kids to see some children allowed to not be trained when they're told, "you have to be trained to go to school!" I get that it's the point of the program but it seems like something so binary and obvious would raise questions for the kids.

Yeah. I've explained to her that she's supposed to be one of the big girls and help the teachers. I hear they do a good job of explaining it to the peers too. K1 was in this program and it was really terrific

Here's something that is working somewhat well for my stubborn 3-year old. I have a babysitter watch her occasionally, and told me that she didn't think dd would ever learn the traditional way (cute panties, rewards, etc.), but that she had a trick that has worked well for some of the kids she nannied. My not-potty-trained kid has been potty training one of her dolls. She reminds her when to go potty, takes her to it, and sits her down on the toy potty. In an effort to teach her, the only requirement I have is that dd sits on her own potty to demonstrate what's supposed to happened. We are just starting this, and she feels a sense of control and thinks she's just the coolest thing in the world to be able to teach her doll how to pee on the toilet. .

The last 3 days, we've been doing boot camp. I have a tarp covering my living room rug and a potty in the middle of the room. Lambie is going bottomless at home. She cried when I first took the diapers away but she's had only 1 accident. Unfortunately, it was poop. But I think it was because I had to put training pants on her for a little while during a guest's visit.

The first day, she basically sat on the potty all day. Lately, she's bored of being on the potty so she's wandering further from it. Then every 20 minutes or so, she says "Oh my Gawd, I have to potty" and runs back to the potty. The next steps would be to get her going in the potty when wearing panties, going in the bathroom and not in the living room, and while we are out of the house. I think she really just doesn't want to be bothered to leave whatever activity she's doing, get undressed, and go.

We have 3 weeks. I think she can get it if we stick with the regime. Trouble is that I'm going out of town and leaving DrK/baby sitters in charge for 5 days. I really really really need them to stick with the program.

Sounds promising! I think it's a good thing that you'll be removed from the equation for 5 days. It gives you a little break, too! That's too bad that they need the kiddos potty trained. That is stressful!

She's doing good at home, pantless, with the potty in the living room. I'm thinking of hiding the potty tomorrow so he has to go to the actual bathroom.
