The mom of Quinn's new buddy is the Treasurer of the PTO, so now I'm privvy to some info I didn't previously have. It turns out that our PTO had a "bunch of money" left over last year, so they decided to give each teacher $100 - for their classroom. I don't know if the teachers will have to submit receipts or what (I hope so). But if it ends up just being $$ handed to the teachers .... I don't know about that.

Wow - yes, I would hope they hold them accountable for that money, its not "free" money.

Whenever I got money from a parent organization....yeah, we had to submit receipts. That is really nice for the teachers!

That's how it's done up here in PHX too!

I know the teachers get to submit requests and get things that are purchased for their classroom. The thing that threw me today was "I have to go up to the school and pass out money." My response was "Pass out money??" and then it was explained to me about the extra $$ from last year and the decision to give each teacher $100. I know teachers to a lot of out-of-pocket and I'm happy to help offset that -- especially here where some parents have really unrealistic expectations of their kids "learning environment". It's just the vision of walking room to room handing out $100 bills that threw me.
