  • Croup, part V

Yep, once again my 38 pounder was struck overnight by croup. This is the FIFTH time the poor guy has had to suffer through it. We went to see the world's best pediatrician (Dr. Miller, Sally!) and it's just croup. He's not wheezing or any other lung stuff it's just the airway.

It sounds soooo awful and it certainly can't feel good.

We did weigh him and have him measured and my itty-bitty boy is still itty-bitty- 18th percentile for weight and 24th percentile for height. (and dropping a bit on the curve for both). I would love to get my hands on a Russian Growth chart just to see where he would track.

Oh well, long night, long day and she doesn't want him going to school tomorrow, either.

    Yay.

I hope he has a smooth and speedy recovery. My little sister got that often as a child. I know how horrible it is to watch.

I feel for you Jenn. On both counts. The croup has to be brutal to watch (and worry) but the weight thing is insidious. My son is so skinny and picky that I'm turning in to a real Italian mother from concern (Manga! Manga!).

      Hope he feels better soon.

I never thought about other countries having different growth charts. Surly that info in out there somewhere. Let us know if you ever come across that info. I'd be interested to know how close your son matches to it rather than the American chart. Does the pediatrician have any ideas?

Here's to hoping your son feels MUCH better VERY soon!!!!!!!

Croup just stinks between the sound of the cough and it being worst in the middle of the night...ugh. I hope he is feeling better soon and that you all return to the land of the rested (where ever that may be).

Jenn, sorry your little man is suffering right now. The sound of it alone really does strike fear into the heart of the hearer. No more sick kids :/

                  Croop sucks...I'm thinking of you.

DS1 spent 4 years at zero percentile for height and weight. At nine and a half he is between the tenth and twentieth. Maybe I should check out the Russian growth charts too?
