  • Both kids in school

For the first time, both of my kids are away at school. Dd is in kindergarten and Ds is at preschool. It's just me and the cat at home. It is strangely quiet here.

There is so much that I should be doing, but I'm here on the computer. At first, I was really sad about both of my kids being at school. But now that I have another baby to look forward to, I think I will enjoy my temporary time to myself.

Moms of kids in school how do you spend your time when they are in school?

Tuesday was my first day. I had big plans to do a yoga class, hula hoop, or go for a walk. This *&^%%$# cold that I have (and am finally getting over) left me too worn out to do much.

Today I am trying to catch up on my treasurer duties but, um, am typing this and getting further behind. Gads.

The house is quiet -- weird, isn't it?

When the oldest four were all in school I had enough volunteer duties at the elementary school that it was like I had a part time job. This year I am doing NO PTA type activities, I run the other way when I see someone looking for volunteers. Now I'm playing with baby and enjoying some quiet time when she naps.

My two oldest are now in first grade and kindergarten - it leaves my son and I home for the morning alone. So far, we have done NOTHING. Then in the afternoon my middle child comes home and I think this afternoon we will do things like recycling and a few errands that are surprisingly easier with two rather than three kids!

Our youngest just went off to Kindergarten this year and I swear I cried everyday for the first week, then I went through a small phase of baby fever, now I think I'm finally coming into my own and "finding myself". I just joined a bowling league, am learning how to sew, cook, reupholster, basically finding my inner domestic diva that I never knew existed. It's been fun and I am beginning to see the benefits of having both children in school. Although I must say yesterday I had a sob fest when I took down the baby Snoopy borders from DD's room. I remembered when DH put those up while I was preggers and it somehow felt like that stage of our lives is behind us and for some strange reason I completely lost it.
