I'm sure some of you remember how much I disliked the K teacher last year.

Well...just so you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE dd's K teacher and ds's 1st grade teacher this year. They're both beyond wonderful, kind, informative, loving, and all around fantastic.

I get notes home about the kids good notes. Dd got a happy rosh hashanah card today. From the *non* jewish teacher. (ds's teacher last year...Jewish. And no personality, btw)
we got a note home thanking us for sending delightful children to school. Hand written, even.

So. Much. Better. Over last year.

Just wanted to share, because I bitched about the other teacher so much

part of me wants to tell the K teacher our experience has been better this year...but Im hesitant it will get back to the other teacher. So, I sent in some cupcake pops instead.

I had a Private School K teacher call me and tell me that I needed to "spank my child more" because he was not paying attention...to which I offered:

"So how much spanking do you think it will require before the Autism goes away??"

She apparently "forgot" what we had gone through with her ad nauseum at the beginning of the year...

We've been in public school ever since...teachers are awesome...

          Oh. My. God.

Best response ever, though. That teacher is an ass. Some people just shouldn't be allowed out in public, much less teaching kids. Ugh.

I'm so happy for you and the kids, Sylvia! Wasn't last year's teacher the one who went on a few red ink rampages?

Rb, my brother is autistic (diagnosed at age 2) and is now 22. PM me sometime if you'd ever like to share
I had a similar situation, but I didn't handle it as well as you did -- it was the only time I came within a very small distance to beating someone within an inch of their life. Grade School: School bully, our bus route, some utterance of "retard" = me, getting bus privileges revoked.

                    Holy moly.

So far, all reports are that Sra. Gebhart is great. (we are in Spanish immersion this year- so far have only had to google the homework assignment twice)
