  • Overheard in kindergarten

Last night dd2 was asking me when she would lose a tooth. She is so excited for the first one. She told me that one of her classmates got a million dollars from the tooth fairy. No really! He swears it is true. He used the money to pay for his family's house and car which was nice because they used to live in a tent. (I am pretty sure they have lived in the same house since he was born).

This weekend dd2 told me that she wanted to get back in my tummy, just for a little bit.

A million dollar tooth? Sheesh inflation has really gone wild. I was excited if I got a dollar!

I let her down easy and told her that her older sister usually gets a dollar in quarters.

That's good. It would be rather disappointing to wake up and expect a million dollars and only see a couple of quarters.

My older sister came home from school when she was little telling our parents she knew who the tooth fairy really was. Apparently her best friend had woken up and caught his mother putting the money under is pillow. That day he came to school and told her all about it. So she comes home and says, Mom! Dad! The tooth fairy is! It is (best friend)'s mom!!

Sorry, I know I've told this story before, but my niece lost her first tooth during a playdate, and her little friend excitedly told her "Oooh! If you leave it under your pillow the tooth fairy leaves you five dollars!" I don't know if it's easier or harder to put the kibosh on five dollars than a million for a kindergartener.

My mother had a lot of fun using fine gold glitter, glitter pens, and fancy writing to make the Tooth Fairy extra special. She would usually find a $2 bill to make it really fun.

My dad LOVES the $2 bill. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten that from him as part of a gift. He always asks the bank if they have them when he goes. It cracks me up.

I'm not sure I would shell out that much money for it, but I might come up with a home made version. I like the tooth chart they can fill it. Too cute!

My friend's daughter just lost her first tooth- as did her BFF. Imagine her dismay when she discovered that the tooth fairy left her friend $5.00 but she only got $1.00!

I think I'm going to have to have a chat with the other moms when the time comes just to make sure that something like that doesn't happen.

When I lost my first tooth, I was terrified and couldn't sleep--I'm pretty sure I ended up sleeping with my parents that night. The thought of something coming into my room and night and putting something under my pillow was horrifying...

A million dollar tooth, eh? Maybe I should start knocking some of my own teeth out.

I love the things kids come up with. Too cute.
