  • Summer Activities?

So, watcha got going on? I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do w/ the dude. I think for at least the first two weeks of summer vacation my husband will be here and on leave so that will help. I'm probably just going to keep him at the same program where he goes for the after school program.

I signed us up for Heritage Camp in Colorado. It's a long weekend at the end of July and they specialize in programs for kids adopted from other countries. We'll be hitting the Russian/Eastern European adoptees camp but they've got them for everyone- the Philippines, Africa, the Caribbean, Korea, China, Vietnam. I think it will be fun- this years theme is Fairy Tales and Folklore. I signed myself up for kitchen duty so we'll see how well I do slinging chow.

Richard just turned three so he can finally participate in soccer. I was actually just looking it up. We'll probably do gymnastics too. He is a sports fanatic.

I have signed Caleb up for a reading and math program that runs from 8-12 M-F for the entire month of July. I have a feeling we will need the break from each other. Otherwise, we will be swimming in my parents' pool.

            Re: Summer Activities?

June: Luke will have basketball, Joel and Nathan will have swimming. Luke will go on a youth group retreat on a houseboat in KY over a long weekend, and will go to camp at the end of the month.

July: Travis and I will spend a week in Grenada for our 20th anniversary at the beginning of the month....I can't wait! The boys will be with my in-laws in KS, and I think my in-laws are planning to take them to CO too. Luke goes on a mission trip in Jamaica at the end of the month. Hopefully some down time at home for all of us after our trip and before his!

August: school starts the 10th for me, 11th for the kids. Luke will start soccer conditioning as soon as he gets back from his trip and Joel will start cross-country about a week before school starts.

It will all go by too fast!!!!

Maggie has pointe shoes -- that means she has to do ballet lessons through the summer. I may see if the grandmas want to pitch in together to pay for Ella to take a week-long dance camp at the ballet studio. But it's her last summer to not have to do ballet all summer so I may just let her be class-free for the summer. Kenny probably won't do anything. We have memberships to the Dallas Zoo, Museum of Nature & Science (which is good at the Ft Worth Museum too, and covers a small nature & science museum near our house too). We'll have playdates with lots of friends -- two family friends with kids our kids love live in the country.

I will do swimming lessons again for all four. Now that Laith will be 3 (5/3 did that fly by or what?!)
I will do the library w/ them(that is if sate funding cuts haven't forced it to close) because as you can imagine, inside w/books will be ideal when it's 110 outside!
Sadly, there will probably be no vacation on the horizon, unless Z can hire a new NP(his walked 2 months ago)&if the practice is successful w/recruiting a couple new partners.
There are only 2 partners and 2 non partner docs. The 2 non partners don't do interventions so Z & the other partner are on back up every other weekend for interventions, in addition to their call weekends

The boys will be in tennis lessons, taekwondo, and possibly pre-compete swimming if I can commit myself to getting out of the house at an ungodly morning 2x/week. We'll be gone for most of June b/c of dh's cousin's wedding in Ohio, and then our family vacay/touring up the eastern seaboard. My friend is renting a house on Long Island for the whole summer, and has invited us to visit, so we'll probably hit Hershey again, visit my great aunt, drive to Long Island, and then perhaps up to Boston or the Cape.

Otherwise it will just be hanging about and playing in the neighborhood pool.

I'm signing Lucy up for art camps and Isabel will be at the JCC each day. They will be tied up from 9-1 or 2ish and then I will pick them up for afternoons at the pool. I need to find swim lessons for Isabel. No vacations since I'll be in the final strech of this pregnancy. DH's parents are planning on taking the two older girls back with them for the month of August so that I can recover with just Julia and the new baby.

We'll be settling into our new house. We'll probably be broke. Lol. Our kids are big on being outside riding bikes...and thankfully our new place has plenty of land and a loooong driveway. We want to sign them up for something, being that they're the new kids in town. Ds, artistic child...nice local art community. Dd, dress up, dance, dramatics...prolly dance.and other dd....art, dance, swimming? She's not too picky...but will need something. Mostly I think they'll be exploring their new found freedom.
