  • awkward situation...

With the twins. I anticipated something like this would happen eventually, but...

We have a neighbor girl who just started going to our elem school. We knew her from the swim team previously, where she'd pretty much been rude and mean to Izzy. Excluding her, talking down, etc. Just... Yuk. So now that they are in the same school, they are *friends*. This girl is lonely after school. No one is home. She's been coming down to our house- that will stop soon enough bc we have activities outside the house every day after school except for Wednesday. BUT, in the meantime...

She was here 2 days last week, and it turns out, surprise surprise, she has a crush on Steven. Steven doesn't care. He only wants to be left alone to play the DS or the Wii. Who has time for romance?

Now I'm just worried that this girl will just drop Iz in some horrible way after the whole *Steven* thing passes.

I didn't actually see this coming since the new friend was never interested in being friends with Iz or Steven during swim season.

Anyway, when she's here she's ok- she plays with Iz mostly, barbies and polly pockets, etc, but she leaves a huge mess, and I actually have to tell her to go home bc I have dinner ready for my crew and she's still hanging around... ??? I don't know when her parents get home, but...

Well, anyway, a rambling post. Just trying to figure out a battle plan on this one... Iz has been used and discarded by some mean girls before, and I want to avoid that.

Oh, and Kate last week told me no less than 3 times that she *doesn't like that girl*. Kate's room is downstairs, and so Kate heard through the doorway all the *playing*. She shudders when she talks about this girl. ???

Kate also had her run-ins with *mean girls* so... I don't take her comments lightly, just I never hear anything overtly rude... This girl is a sweet as can be to an adult. With the face of an angel.

Of course with the face of an angel, right? I think it'll die a natural enough death since you all have activities that will keep her away. On the weekends, it might be different but chances are you guys will all be out and about doing weekend stuff so...

Maybe see if Izzy really likes the girl or feels sorry for her. Kids aren't dumb so she may be fine w/ a friend 'for right now.'

I traded crushes w/ the kid across the street from 3rd through 12th grade. back and forth. Finally the night we graduated we finally had that one kiss and decided it was like kissing a sibling and that was the end of that.

I had a friend like that too Jenn-- the timing never worked for us to date one another, but after graduating we tried kissing, and there truly was no chemistry there. Not at all. It was good to know- I wish we'd have kissed earlier on!
