Yep- it's one of his special perks for being the First Husband of the PTA president. He gets to go do kid duty when I have the meetings.

So far this year, DH came to kindergarten orientation in the summer. He missed parent night. I think he'll miss parent/teacher conference, too. He brings DS to school maybe 3 times/month. I try to mention "my husband" now and then in conversation with other moms so they know he's still in the picture. haha.

The dude makes as many school events as possible. He's been to a couple of DD2's Lego robotics team meetings/practices, DD1's various sports games or band events, and DS' IEP meetings, along with their various open houses and conferences. He doesn't make probably even half of them, but he tries to be at as many as possible.

There are definitely low hopes that it will happen since DS1 is only in school 2 days a week from 9-noon. C'est la vie. I probably should be more concerned that DS screams bloody murder when daddy wants to take him away from mommy...

During training I don't think this would have been possible. Now, Dad definitely makes time to share their enthusiasm. A lot of the school performances are on Fridays which is his OR block day so he can't make those, but he does do other things and occasionally drops them off in the morning which is a big deal to them. . He's also been the "special friend" on grandparents day since our family doesn't live here. He usually pops in to see the art show or author's day too. The school is conveniently located 2 blocks from the hospital so pop ins are feasible.

DH has been inside each of the 10 schools our kids have attended (preschool and up). It may not have been on the first day, or on parent night, but he has met each teacher and been inside each classroom, except the HS teachers. He never used vacation time to do it, though, and he had a very demanding residency and still works lots of hours/week, so it can be done (as long as you are both living in the same city, that is)!
