  • Clothing name labels

My dd starts preschool in September, and I need to label a few things. What do you use? A permanent pen? Do you write their names on or into their stuff? Do you just do their jackets?

We have lived in large cities, and I'm wary about having dd's name visible on her things for strangers to see -- "hey, M, do you want to see my cute dog?"

We just use a sharpie on the inside tag so nobody can see the name unless they are actually looking for it. You could also get the iron on tags with your name on them from etsy if you'd prefer that route...

I like these: http://www.namebubbles.com/. They're small, discreet, and easy to use. And you can stick them on just about anything: clothing, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.

I do a sharpie on the inside of the clothing. For stuff that doesn't have an actual tag, like t-shirts, I write on the inside of the collar. Don't over think it. Go old-school and be done with it.

No way, Kris! This is my first (and only?) kiddo, and I'm going balls out on labels.

I love Mabel's Labels. I got a set with just our last name and I've been using them for the boys' shoes, blankets, sippy cups, bottles, jackets ... I've washed them a million times in the washing machine and dishwasher. They haven't faded or peeled at all and still look like new.

We still have a set from Mabel's Labels. My friends kids school sold them as a fundraiser and they're GREAT.

I think I'll do dd's last name. Hers is different than mine, long, and ugly. Oh well...

That's how we roll with a big sharpie.

FYI as one of our neighbors discovered, it you put their names on the tags that aren't attached to the garment, the tags can (and will) be cut out. If there's no "place" to write his name (and we use first name, last initial) then I write it near the inside armpit in sharpie.

We love Mabel's labels. I keep the extras in the junk drawer and have been able to just throw a label on things I hadn't planned for as the kids walk out the door.

Thank you everyone. How much of dd's stuff do I need to label.

Please keep in mind that both dh and I are firstborns, and we have a tendency to be unable to share, and have definite HANDS OFF MY SHIT tendencies.

You are cracking me up! I hadn't heard of Mabel's Labels. It looks like there's a 5% off coupon code (RETAILMENOT). I haven't tried it yet, but I think I might order some soon!
