  • Well that was a first

I got a text from my sister today telling me to call her after I talk to Steve; that it was hysterical. I was completely baffled because I had no flipping idea who Steve was.

Then my phone rang and it was the principal from school, named Steve.

I told him that my sister had told me he was going to call and that it was funny. He sounded rather relieved by that and proceeded to tell me that DS and my niece (who are in the same classroom and have been for the last 3 years) were playing kickball at recess and that my niece kicked a home run while DS was on base. He, apparently decided to walk instead of running around the bases, which irritated L and she hit him. Both kids got hauled into the office and were quite unhappy about it.

Steve was doing the official hitting lecture when L said that the reason she was so irritated was "a cousin thing". Apparently the principal had forgotten about that.

I was laughing so hard by the time he got to that point and said that DS probably deserved it because he likes to irritate her to no end. They fight and love like siblings and are only 6 months apart in age. I was in tears by the end of the conversation. Once DS gets home, he is going to my sisters to walk around the block with her holding hands (our version of the get along shirt kind of thing).

I'm glad that the principal understood.
