    Angie,
Amanda experienced something similar. She hates reading anything for school. We've been in WI a week and all she has done is curl up with books and read. During the school year she avoids the reading as long as she can.

Our reading program here has made Alex hate reading. One year, he actually made a sign that said "I hate reading" and taped it to his door. It makes me so angry.

I would not have thrived as a reader in this type of environment, and I hate that my kids are stuck with it.

It's madness. I don't know how to take action though. Maybe we need to have parents infiltrate all the self congratulatory researchy talk on Twitter with our own input.

This is my problem too. I've watched so much of what was really good in public education be replaced by stupid. So much so that I'm truly taken aback.
