Tomorrow is the big day. I'm thankful that my parents are flying in to visit, coinciding with this test.

I (of course) started my period this evening, so I am very touchy about it all. Looking forward to talking freely with DH for reassurance after the kids are in bed.

Prayers/good juju appreciated, since the test is at least 2 hours long and I will have DS2 with me.

They still need to complete more scoring, but he shows developmental delays in expressive/receptive language, and problem solving/cognitive.

One of the testers acted apologetic and was talking about how his inability to listen was perhaps skewing the initial results, etc., but that just made it worse for me. More nebulous talk, no labels or definitive dx, just that he needs intervention and will probably be in a blended class for these services. Maybe an IEP needed, maybe not.

The test was almost 3 hours long, and he just stopped listening and trying 45 minutes in. It was painful for me, but I couldn't say or do anything. I also had a barrage of questions and questionnaires. DH was at work. I felt alone.

I wish someone could tell me if this is an actual diagnosis, what the prognosis is, will he catch up, etc., but there's just more waiting.

They started to mention IQ, and said low end of average, but then didn't mention it again, and only in the context of the apologetic "if he was listening, we might have a clearer picture".

There was no mention of ADHD. ASD maybe, but not really (?)

I wrote it all down, but it was awful and I don't want to be a grown up anymore.

I wish one of us could be there with you, it's so, so hard. Big hugs.

3 hours seems like a long time to attempt to hold a 4yo's attention, I wonder if they could do shorter retests to flesh out the rest of the details they missed.
