My daughter's middle school math teacher put past standardized test scores on an overhead projector during her class to stress to her students that these scores stay with you your entire school career. The test scores were listed with corresponding names and ranked from top scores to bottom scores. Additionally, she used scores outside her subject area. My daughter's test scores are solid so it didn't really phase her but she thought it was weird and was concerned on behalf of a few of her friends who were mortified to be in the bottom for all scores listed.
Not only do I think this is a serious lapse in judgment by the teacher but I'm wondering about the legality of what she did? I wrote the teacher and was unimpressed with her answer. I don't want to "NAIL" this teacher but I am gathering information about what teachers can and cannot do with regard to standardized test scores and will follow up with her and an administrator. I don't think this should have happened and I do not want it to happen again.
Anybody have any experience with this?
I'd love some help here.
