You’re not out of line but it’s a battle not worth fighting imho. I just was talking to a 1st grade teacher and they have implemented a similar type of program. It “dings” in the classroom for public acknowledgment when a child does something well. SHE has to prompt the recognition. I asked her if that was just too distracting/too much of a pain and so far she likes it bc the kids like it.
I’ve had to download “remind” and “seesaw” apps- my child logs into her seesaw at school on the chromebooks there, and it’s kind of a fun program. They don’t overuse it imo.
I wouldn’t be in a rush to get a kid a device unless you have an old iPod or something sitting around. These apps are WiFi enabled.
BUT sad to say- this is the future.
