    Hmm, make a generous donation of a class pet to your children's classrooms?

    Alison had some really great suggestions for me. Tara has what sounds like a hamster compound. Maybe she would have some ideas too.

    We found the little bugger hiding in cozy dark spaces -- under a laundry hamper, under an ottoman, behind a desk, etc. Since they are noctural it might be easier to find in the morning when it is sleepy.

    Alison suggested putting out a TP or paper towel tube. I think this is a great idea. Ours never took us up on the offer but it might be a start.

    I had a bunch of hamsters growing up and we had several escape artists among them. We usually found them hiding and nesting inside the folding couch so check your couches and beds. I hope it didn't do too much damage.
