It seems I've burned out the motor in our washing machine. I heard it making funky noises - ran upstairs - and it had already stopped -- and smells "toasty".

We're heading out of town tomorrow AM until Tuesday. And who needs to go to the expense of buying a new washer at Christmas time?? Grrrrr

Maybe the repair would be less than replacement? Yuck!

Jenn, I'm sorry this is happening to you. Check out the Sears scratch and dent appliance store as it can save you a bundle. My parents got a washer and dryer and all stainless steel dishwasher, gas stove, and fridge that were supposedly scratched or dented, but I can't see one thing wrong with them. They were a hell of a deal too.

Christina's right...that's what DH & I did when we moved here...even if there is a minor cosmetic blemish, who cares? It's in your laundry room!! You can totally save at Sears appliance outlet store!

Damn those machines! They eat socks and then die at the most inconvenient times. But I love mine and couldn't live without it. Hey, the credit card is already warmed up, why stop now?!

DH came home and it's working! It's my Christmas miracle!

Meanwhile my neighbor dried and folded my clothes.
