OK....this is absolutely the easiest, cheapest way to add a little bit of sweat equity to the house.
Our neighbors had window blinds installed on 3/4 of their windows this summer...to the tune of $3800. They ended up having papery/cloth like blinds installed on all windows but one...which they had wooden blinds put on. Their preference had been wooden blinds everywhere, but it would have run them ~5600.
So...I discovered (which I am sure all of you already know
) that Home Depot will cut their wooden blinds to fit your window measurements.
We have almost all of our windows finished now. I've been doing 1 blind per pay period for the last 2 months or so....and...they look...awesome.
Basically, if you don't know...the wooden blinds run anywhere from $64 and up. The most expensive window that I did was $156 in dh's office.....we had to custom order it because it was so wide. Installing them literally takes about 7 minutes once you've done one and figured it out and shortening them (if you need to) takes about 15 minutes or so....
I'm sooo excited!
