Man, I've kicked my own arse today. I hired my sitter to come in the morning so I could get to some serious srubbing. I completely cleaned Nikolai's room- including using this special sealant for the tiles in his shower. (smelled horrendous and the package said, "may cause a narcotic effect". Tell me why they would sell this? I had to keep the fan on and open all of the windows on that side of the house.
But, floors in his room are done, the furniture is polished, the baseboards are dusted, the blinds are dusted. (The windows desperately need to be cleaned on the outside but that will require a professional because we have metal grates then screens then the windows- you know the full on Victorian custom-made huge grates and screens...)
I then moved on to my room where I took down the hideous drapes. They were so dirty that they felt greasy to the touch. Completely skeevy. My room looks so much cleaner. I started to polish the furniture but I needed to go to the PX so I took a break.
I actually started this extraveganza in my closet- I totally rearranged everything in the closet- got rid of all of Rick's dress shirts that were stained, faded, ugly or just tired. Got rid of a few of his pairs of pleated cuffed Dockers (high fives from Vishenka, Lily and Stella no doubt), this hideous mustard colored linen blazer that never fit him- ever. I then got rid of all of the pants I haven't worn in a year, with the notable exception of my very good plain fronted no cuff brown wool pants. I unpacked all of my hats which I need to get reblocked. (I have a thing for antique hats. it's my vintage thing)
I hung up scarves, organized purses (amazing how one person who has attended maybe four formal events other than weddings could amass such a huge selection of evening bags). i arranged my belts from fat girl belts to belts that I will wear with the pants I purchased yet.
and I did the dishes, did several loads of laundry, dusted the kitchen windows and upper cabinets AND managed to feed my child two of his three meals of the day and get him bathed and into bed.
Whew.
So, after all of that- I've finished one and a half rooms and a closet. I'm never going to be done...
