This is probably an item for another thread BUT you know... I have considered dumping the landline because we rarely use it. It is nice to have when we lose our cell phones and can call ourselves to find them.

How many of you are cell phone only households?
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Really? I thought it was DSL that did that. Thanks everyone - I am getting a great education.

We were cell phone only for a year and liked it, but our parents insisted we get a landline just in case. Neither one of us is home that much, only a few hours a night and may be some on weekends, so we don't have much opportunity to use the phone. Plus all our numbers are in the cells anyway.

I'll need to check if Fios is available in our new area.

We still have our landline, simply because we have a small child. If something awful were to happen and we couldn't get signals on our cell phones, at least we'd be able to rely on our landline telephone.

Back to the OT ... we also have cable internet, and I have noticed that it's slower during peak usage times (evenings, mostly, I guess). Ours is bundled in with our cable TV, so we save a little bit but not much. Comcast basically has a monopoly where I live, so we don't really have much of a choice.

Interesting we've never had an issue with our cable being slow. Its MUCH faster then any DSL we've ever had.

We don't have cable or a dish because we don't watch that much tv and when we do, it is abc, cbs, or nbc. When we had more time to watch TV in TX, we had a dish because it was the cheapest option and we only had reception problems one time (a bad storm during desperate housewives).

For the internet, we have whatever the phone company provides - is that DSL? Again, because it was the cheapest option. Whatever we have, we are at the "end of the line" and the connection was terrible when we moved in. I called to complain and the phone company put a booster on our street and we haven't had any trouble since.

We do have a landline with no features - just a dial tone - because our cell phones don't work in our house.
