  • The last project

Before Rick gets home. Today I'm having bookcases and a window seat installed in our office. Yay- now I can finally get rid of the bookcases that I bought at the Crate and Barrel outlet in 1999 (that have survived one flood and 7 moves! Needless to say, they're not in very good shape. Good enough for the shed though! I'm spending money that we haven't been paid yet which is a little nerve wracking..."uh, hello? do you happen to know when the bonus will be paid? Maybe next week. Okaaaay."

That sounds great! I just love window seats, as a kid I use to read for hours in mine.

Well, they didn't get them in yesterday. I guess the guy building them was delayed (yay- more time for the bonus to come. The General contractor is probqably thinking I'm the most laid back customer, ever. "No problem- take your time...")

they decided not to install them today because of all the rain.

I'll post pictures when it's all said and done.

This is sooooo our problem ! I call it analysis paralysis...the "chicken" part in us, makes rethink and change are mind too often! It sucks when you are post training and CAN afford to do things/ projects, but we aren't or @ least @ a snail's pace because of the indecision!

Maybe we should make DCJenn the official IMSN home improvements project manager!!! I sure know we could use her!

Well, my ADD kicks in so I have to make decisions because otherwise I bore myself with too much information.

I'm not one to fret over stuff- there's nothing that can't be undone, I always say.

Me too. Post training and overwhelmed with paint chips/floor samples etc. When you are making "investments" we want to make sure that we making the right ones. We can't even decide on a new refrigerator When all was "temporary" I had no problems. DCJenn - I am looking to you for inspiration and motivation. Can't wait to see your pictures.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

              .

I keep telling him this...I don't mean to sound snobby, but even if we were to make a choice we regretted it's not like we don't have the $ to make it right!

They're in and I think they look great! I have three more bookcases to empty and random books lying about the house to put away but it's definitely all positive momentum.

They look maaavelous, dahling...as do all your other projects, too! I certainly hope Rick is properly appreciative of all the work you've done while he's been away. Congratulations on getting to the last one with plenty of time to spare!

                              Thanks all!

To answer the contractor question, I'm using a guy who did some work for us the last time we were here. I got his name from our realtor and he's been nothing but fantastic. They redid our roof and screens at the last house.

They will be rebuilding the front porch, too. (We have to apply for a conservation grant for that)
