Anyone drooling over the new stuff like I am?

    I love this "look."

I have no idea how or where I would do this in my own home....just loving the look. I am a texture girl. I really like other options for wall art -- unframed things that add to a room.

Anyone else have things they love on a wall that isn't the "traditional choice" but is a classic look?

We're more of the odd things on the walls kind of people. I have been lusting over one of the couches in the PB catalog though.

I'm so over the 7 year old couch from the PXtra. but, I bought lawn furniture 50% off yesterday so I guess the couch is going to stick around for the forseeable future.

We have some very odd art.

I have a huge piece of pottery that is up in the dining room.

Mostly though it's our bizarre taste in art.

Sadly, I can't afford much at PB. I have stayed away from the store, because of the time I went in and proceeded to wreck an entire display of glass lanterns. As in, I went in to grab one, it started to slip out of my hands, I tried to quickly place it back on the shelf before it fell, and instead rammed it into about 5 others. They all fell to the floor, and there was glass everywhere.

We print poster-size photos at home, either of dh's or my photographs, frame them, and put them up. Other than that, we don't have much on our walls. Our apartment is tiny, and by putting too many things up, the apartment looks small. I like the look of ledges, but they're pricey!

That's the "architectural objects" look. There are actually shops that will sell you bits and pieces of old buildings (even gargoyles from what I understand) that are the architectural details of old buildings and homes. There is a shop on Newberry street that actually has their buyers go over to southeast Asia to find architectural objects (they had all of the carved wall panels from a room back in Thailand or something there on display once - drool).

I really love the look, myself.

My SO recently traveled around Europe, so for our next project, we're going to take his best and favorite photos of historical places from different countries, create prints (probably black and white) and place them in different sized frames on one wall, to create a "collage". We'll stagger them and put them up close together. I think it'll look nice and it'll be personal, it's his own photos and memories

Well, I don't know if that is it's official name - but there is definitely a type of decorating that revolves around using architectural objects (anything from old windows to old finials to entire doors and wall panels).

                  It's pretty cool.

I say higher an architect to design a home you like, with the details you like, then put actual art or pictures on the wall. Or even some nice clean space to juxtapose the find detail work the architect designed.

When I look at those pics I see the " one of the looks that is sooo in here in the valley"... it's all about scrolled iron / wrought iron pieces.
They have all sorts of that stuff for a fraction of the pottry barn price, here in PHX. Someone I know recently committed to accenting her interior w/ a lot of it....I have yet to see it.
